A Joyful Path: A Progressive Curriculum at FPC Elizabethton

Our Director of Children's Ministries, Linda Sorrell, has been familiarizing herself with our new curriculum for progressive congregations, A Joyful Path. We have just begun using it, so now is a good time to bring your kids to church. Here is a blurb about it:
This curriculum encourages children to listen and respect all people, to think of the entire world as our family, to celebrate and care for our earth, and to see God within everyone. While it offers a way of life which centers around Jesus' teachings, this curriculum respects the teachings of other wisdom paths and avoids the exclusivity often associated with religious studies. The language is inclusive, inter-spiritual, and intelligent. Sensitively written and beautifully illustrated, this curriculum focuses on behavior before belief, creating and practicing a spiritual path, and knowing one's true self. It celebrates children's naturally joy-filled life, and draws upon their compassion and innate wisdom.
It is produced by the The Center for Progressive Christianity.

I have read the first half of the 200 page curriculum. It is really good! How I wish I had been taught these lessons when I was a child!

Contact Linda and join us. Worship is at 11:00. Following a children's message, Linda will accompany them on A Joyful Path!

Here is a notice about it in the Johnson City Press!
