Expand Your Consciousness

September 26 and 27 is a big weekend at First Pres., and I hope you will join us and invite your friends.

On Saturday from 9-4 we are hosting an Awakening the Dreamer symposium. Click the pic for information and see the web page for our Peacemaking Committee.

Noted environmental justice activist Joanna Macy says the symposium “is designed to accelerate the Great Turning to a just and sustainable world. It awakens us and reconnects us with our place in the web of life . . . I'm very impressed with the approach and the quality of the program.”

Register now! Seating is limited, and registration closes September 22nd. The cost will be $10 (although no one will be turned away). Bring your own lunch or, as part of registration, reserve a catered lunch ($8).

Call Sandra at 423.543.7737 to register.
Then Sunday evening, we are hosting Dr. Vinita Eusebius as part of the International Peacemaker Program of the PC(USA). She will be in East Tennessee the week of September 26 through October 1 and at First Presbyterian of Elizabethton on September 27th at 7 p.m.
Dr. Eusebius’ presentation, “Water: Not for Profit” will touch on the mission of the Church in the context of endemic poverty in India, children at risk and violence against women. She has traveled widely in India and visited Hawaii, Fiji, Sydney, Jamaica, London, Egypt, Jordan and Israel. She has a Master of Science, Ph.D. in Zoology, B.C.S., and is currently pursuing a Master of Theology. Her work includes 32 years of teaching experience. She is the present chair of the Student Christian Movement of India, has conducted workshops on child rights and is an ordained deaconess of the Church of North India. She is married with two sons ages 22 and 26.
It is expand your consciousness weekend! Please spread the word!
