There was a story that circulated around Calvin (the college) about Calvin (the guy) that he actually went to the Geneva City Council to ask them to pass an ordinance making it illegal to name one's dog John Calvin. Apparently he was so disliked by the folks in Geneva, they'd taken to naming their dogs John Calvin.
I don't know if it happened, but I'm sure it's true. ;)
It looks a little stiff-necked to me - but I guess that fits, doesn't it?
