Visit the More Light Presbyterian website for information about First Pres., Elizabethton, the latest More Light Church. And just in time for General Assembly. Thanks to Michael Adee for the warm welcome! I know that they are busy getting on the way to San Jose.
I wish I could be there, but I am going to have to settle for virtual GA this year. Shuck and Jive will be one of the places to check out for links to news from General Assembly. This GA could be the one that takes a step forward in justice and removes discriminatory language and policies against LGBT people.
Just in time for the San Jose event, Jane Spahr is going to officiate at a wedding in Marin County (California). The news story says that "She says she hopes to send a message to church leaders gathering in San Jose for a weeklong legislative meeting where changes to the denomination's positions on marriage and the ordination of gay clergy are scheduled to be discussed.".
ReplyDeleteIt also says, "One of the brides, a lawyer who represented Spahr when she faced misconduct charges for performing the earlier weddings in 2004 and 2005, picked the location over a local Presbyterian church that offered to host the service.". I am curious what church that might be that made the offer.
I don't know. Would it be that Westminster Church in Tiburon? Thanks for the article. I made a new post about it.
