And Here's to You, Bishop Robinson!

Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson will say the prayer at the Lincoln Memorial at one of the first inauguration events. Here is the story in today's Johnson City Press:

Robinson has said he was stung by Warren's selection, but still believes Obama will be the most supportive president ever for gay-rights causes.

"There's no question in my mind that he is the president who understands our issues and comes out of a background knowing what it's like to be discriminated against because of who you are," Robinson said Monday. "I think for the first time in a very long time we'll have a friend in the White House."

And here's to you, Bishop Robinson,

Jesus loves you more than you will know.

God bless you, please Bishop Robinson.

Heaven holds a place for those who pray,

Hey, hey, hey

  1. Andy--'tis indeed.

Betty--Welcome! Thanks for reading and commenting. Hope you aren't planning on foreclosing on my house, though! : )

  2. Amen! I do think Obama knows what he's doing, I really do.

  3. I'm glad he made the selection, but it isn't any more or less important than the Rick Warren thing. Except for one thing, while plenty of folks on the left freaked out about the Warren pick, now we get to watch plenty of folks on the right freak out about the Robinson pick. for my money, no one does a crazy rant like folks on the far right ... you really have to end it by damning someone to hell in order to get it right, IMHO.

So, we'll at least have a few days to enjoy watching them lose their minds, which will brighten up this otherwise bitterly cold, insanely snowy Michigan winter. :)

  5. Just want to remind of the fact that Rick Warren is not just offensive to Gays.
This is not just about Gays.

Rick Warren is a lying Televangelist, Bible thumper who isn't even familiar with Christian doctrine. His is the doctrine of Rick Warren, not Jesus of Nazareth.
He's a liar who's in it for the money. The new Pat Robertson with a more nuanced, 21st century script.

Rick Warren is offensive to Jesus. Especially since he claims to be a "Christian" yet never mentions the Master. That's my problem with him. He's a fake.

Having a Gay pastor give a prayer is a fine gesture, but that's all it is. That doesn't change the fact
that Rick Warren and his Taliban kind are a danger to everyone's freedom. Not just that of The Gay(tm).

  6. Captain,

I agree that Warren's theology and activities are, in my view and yours, mistaken on a number of counts.

But I don't doubt his sincerity. I don't like it when people say I am only in it for the $$ or the pension or whatever.

I don't think he is either.

  7. Well, we can say he's not in it for the wardrobe!
