Rev. Spahr said: "I pronounced them married under the authority granted me by the state and as a minister of the Presbyterian Church..."The newspaper went on to say:
Did I mention that I love this woman?Now that gay and lesbian couples can get married in California, a similarly technical ruling won't be possible, said Spahr, who is scheduled to officiate more same-sex weddings this summer.
"Although it is holy and it is a blessing, it is a marriage," she said. "I'm saying to our people who have voice and vote, it is time for you to stand up for what is right."

ReplyDeleteIt is going to be tough for the PCUSA to be this small-minded to punish someone for doing what is legal.
ReplyDeleteIn other words, I am not sure if this GA or the next or the presbyteries will ratify changing the language of the law, but it will likely not be enforced. It will finally be thrown out like old laws that remain on the books that we finally toss out because we are too embarrassed.
