Barack Obama is My Age

I just realized this. The President of the United States is only 26 days older than me. This is significant ladies and gentlemen. You see, I and Mr. Obama are part of that sandwich generation slapped between the boomers and the Xers.

We watched Vietnam on TV as kids. We didn't get the Beatles. We got the Bee Gees.

Sure, make fun.

But now, we are taking over the free world.

  1. I was thinking about that yesterday, and was finding it kind of cool, until you mentioned the Bee Gees.

  2. Maybe I was precocious, but... I was born that very same year, and I listened to the Beatles. My first album as Bookends by Simon and Garfunkel, my second was In A Gadda Da Vida.

    I had a teenage cousin.

  3. My first eight track tape was recommended to me by my older brother (ten years older).

Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen.

    Hot Rod Lincoln

In the shadow of the boomers.

  7. To answer your question, John: no. But thanks for trying! (now please, stop trying).

  8. Me, I'm just old enough to remember Kennedy's inaugural parade.

When I turned 33 I realized that Jesus had managed to change the whole course of human history by the time he was 33.

On that scale and by comparison, I was going to have to live forever.

    My first mid-life crisis.

Now the president of the United States will be younger than I am now even after he finishes his first term.

Maybe it really is time to put off childish things after all.
