Are Y'all/Youse Yankee or Dixie?

Take the quiz!

0% is Yankee
100% is Dixie.

I scored 44% Yankee.

Enjoy! Thanks to First Presby, Linda!

61% (Dixie). A definitive Southern score!

I'm somewhat disappointed actually. I hoped for an 80% + Dixie score. I guess two college degrees, world travel, three foreign languages (Arabic, Farsi, Spanish) and a healthy respect for the English language kinda Yankeed me up a little.

Still.... Southern born, Southern bred, and when I die I'll be Southern dead.

  3. 73% - not bad for someone who was born and raised 35 miles from Chicago and spent half her life (so far) in Minnehsowdah, hey!

It just goes to show ya what good rearin'll do for ya.

As I always say, I may have been raised up north, but don't call me a Yankee. I know what to do with my bacon drippin's, thank you!

  4. 50% Yankee

The weird thing is how many midwest responses I had. I mean I've lived in SoCal and the Northeast for all of my life since college!

  5. I feel that, Bob. :)

I guess there's always a chance the quiz is flawed.

  6. 59% (Dixie). Barely into the Dixie category.

I noticed that I tended to make a lot of Great Lakes answers. Not too surprising as my dad's side of the family is all Lutherans from Illinois and Wisconsin (helps me to understand "Prairie Home Companion").

That having been said, my mom is a Savannah girl and her family has been in Georgia for generations.

  7. 30%, mostly Yankee. I guess since my family supposedly helped found the colony of Connecticut, that's to be expected. Am I still welcome here?

  8. Rev Dave -

Y'all come on up to the house any time. Just leave your "cornbread" recipe to home and thar won't be no trouble.

  9. Yep, we'll have us a nice co-cola and a Moon Pie (though if you want to be hardcore Georgian, it would be a Moon Pie and R.C. Cola).

  10. 74% (Dixie). That is a pretty strong Southern score!

I'm not too surprised. Although I did get some Michigan responses, not to mention some of them were eithers as well.

  11. Moon Pies? Hey, I thought those were created in Central PA!

At least that's where I bought them at a church bake sale for the first time!

  12. Heaven forfend, Bob! The Moon Pie is from John's (current) neck of the woods in Tennessee.

The RC Cola bit is very specific to a very particular portion of the deep South.

  13. Thanks all, and yes Rev. Dave, you are most welcome here! I see that you are from Wyoming, not far from heaven up north. As Jesus might say, "You are not far from the kingdom of God."

  14. I took the thing again and scored...

58% (Dixie). Barely into the Dixie category.

Glad I got more right answers this time. Must've spent too much time in NJ and NY before finally coming home!

  15. I see that you are from Wyoming, not far from heaven up north. As Jesus might say, "You are not far from the kingdom of God."

This actually made me lol, John. Are you saying that the Kingdom of God is, in fact, Canada? My sig. other lives in Vancouver and would be interested to know that. ;-)

  16. Flycandler,

Canada is very nice as well. To be more precise as to the actual location of the heavenly realms, you go south of Canada and north of Wyoming and thus find...
