Peace March in Johnson City

Here is a quick report on the peace rally in Johnson City. We had a highly successful march and rally today. Two hundred twelve folks showed for speeches and tunes and to connect. That may not sound like much, but 212 is more than any rally in our area since the Vietnam War. We are in one of the most conservative areas of the country.

We even had counter-protesters. A group of folks on Harleys rode up and down protesting our protest. But it was all peaceful. It is part of what it means to be American. All of the speeches were recorded and when I locate the website, I will post it. We also had great music from the Feral Throes, a local Johnson City band.

I know more news will come from Sandra at ConcernedTNCitizens and from Joseph at DemocracyNowTricities. I will also post my speech in written form tomorrow. If you are in the area check the local TV stations and there should be an article in tomorrow's Johnson City Press.

Kudos to Sandra for putting this all together. She also is a great emcee!
