The History Channel broadcast Hillbilly: The Real Story last night. It will be on this week. Actors from Elizabethton were used to tell the story of the Battle of King's Mountain in the Revolutionary War. The show told the story of the people who settled Southern Appalachia. It is narrated by Mr. Achy Breaky himself, Billy Ray Cyrus.
The story told about moonshiners, coal mining, music, and NASCAR among other things. I am a transplant, so I cannot give an adequate review. I will be interested in what natives think about the History Channel's presentation. It whet my appetite to learn more.
