Heritage Sunday

First Presbyterian of Elizabethton will kick off a year-long 225th anniversary celebration this coming Sunday, August 26th. I will preach a sermon delivered in the 1870s by Rev. Horace C. Atwater. Everyone is invited to wear period costumes. We will sing music popular at that time, plus many exciting surprises! Following the service, we will have our annual dinner on the grounds. Bring a dish! Everyone is invited! Read a little bit of the congregation's history here.

  1. This sounds like it'll be a lot of fun!

If my church did this, we'd all have to show up as flappers. Not quite the same.

My grandparents attend "the oldest congregation following the Reformed (Calvinistic) theological tradition in continuous service in Georgia". In 1995 they celebrated 250 years with lots of historical remembrances.
