You are invited and urged to attend a United Religious Initiative Thanksgiving Dinner, November 22, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30, at the Johnson City Senior Center (607 Myrtle). Turkey will be provided, and you are invited to bring a side dish, salad or desert from your culture to create a meal that embraces the diversity of the group gathered in gratitude for our blessings and in love. Religious leaders of various faiths will offer traditional blessings or readings.We have representatives from Buddhist, Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, Pagan, Christian, and UU traditions attending. It will be a nice evening. Children will be doing traditional Hindu dancing, we have drumming, dances for universal peace, and prayers and readings from various traditions

ReplyDeleteA dish that would highlight my cultural heritage would be potaotes boiled in beer served on top of white bread. Or perhaps a fist sandwich courtesy of the British government.
