Volunteers Needed in West Virginia

Friend and activist Ash-Lee Henderson has sent this note.
As you may have heard, there has been terrible flooding in eastern Kentucky and West Virginia. Mountaintop removal and logging contribute to flooding - as part of our commitment to community service, Mountain Justice members will be helping in the cleanup operations this Saturday. Watch this short 1 minute film on the flooding and damage to the community.

We would love all the hands and hearts we can get in Mingo County, West Virginia this weekend. We will find a place for you to stay Friday or Saturday if you need it- just let us know. Please read below for details before heading down. If you would like to donate materials- you can find that list below as well. Thank you.
Find out information at Sludge Safety Project. Contact Patricia at Sludge Safety for more information or to make donations.

We will be taking our youth to Mingo County, WV for an Appalachia Service Project week in June. I wonder how this might affect what we will be doing.

  1. We are taking our youth June 13-20 with WVMAW (a ministry of WV Presbytery). We were scheduled to go to Montgomery. I wonder if that will change.

    Blessings,
    Greg
