Great Book: The Education of Little Tree

If you are looking for a book to read to your children or grandchildren, I recommend
The Education of Little Tree.

Set in the depression era in the mountains of East Tennessee, it tells the story of an orphaned Cherokee boy who is raised by his grandparents. It is a marvelous story about values, connection with Earth, spirituality, and compassion for those we do not understand. Thanks to my mom for sending it to me.

As soon as I posted this, I found some on-line articles of interest. I didn't realize this book was so controversial. You might check this out before you buy and read it to your kids.

  1. I am so happy to find you and your church! My Partner and I are relocating from FL and thought there would be no place to worship without "playing the game". It's really brave for a straight man to go to the mat for us.
    May the Lord Bless you!!

  4. Hi Society,

I would be curious what you think of it. The author was not a Cherokee. So accuracy could be a problem.
