Our executive director, Libby Harvey, the saint of planet Earth, is the energy and soul. She will credit the volunteers, churches, donors, and everyone else (who also deserve credit!)
This is a ministry to provide basic needs to folks in Carter County. Here is how you can pitch in!
We are in the process of buying a building because our ministry has expanded. It has expanded because the need has expanded. All help is appreciated on that score.
Arlene (the angel) has created a website for A.R.M. I manage the blog. Here is the latest newsletter. Stop by and visit or volunteer. Of course, if you know someone who is need of food or quality clothing, financial assistance, or a hug, you know where to send them!
This is from the website:
A.R.M. was formed in 1991 at the request of the Carter County Ministerial Association to help coordinate assistance for the multitude of requests that area churches were receiving for benevolent aid for: Food, clothing, shelter, utility bills, medicine, rent
We also saw a great need to have a central clearing house for those applying for assistance, in order to learn who was receiving help and from whom, so that distribution of help to those in need could be more equitable in the community, given the limited resources available.
A.R.M. is governed by a board of 15 volunteers from the community. Additionally, an advisory board has been established composed of community educational, business and church representatives.
A.R.M. offices are located at 714 West C Street, Elizabethton, and is staffed by the executive director and volunteers with the following schedule: (Lunch Wed & Fri 12N-1 pm)
Tuesdays 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Wednesdays 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Thursdays 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Friday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Without the assistance of time and energy from many volunteers, this service could not exist. If you would desire to help, please contact the executive director at (423) 542-0919
