Prayer Warriors Needed

Yeah, this is where I live. An Elizabethton, Tennessee man named his baby, Sarah McCain Palin Ciptak. That is screwed up enough. But catch this...he didn't tell his wife. Here is the story in the Kingsport Times News:

People can be passionate about their politics. Consider, for example, the name given to a baby girl born last weekend to a Carter County couple: Sarah McCain Palin Ciptak.

While that’s the name father Mark Ciptak of Elizabethton put on documents for his baby girl’s birth certificate, it isn’t the name he and his wife originally agreed on. And it isn’t the name his wife, Layla, thought the baby was given.

“We actually came up with the name Ava Grace, and I secretively went and got another set of forms to send to (Social Security officials and the Tennessee Department of Health), and as of this time, she (Layla) still doesn’t realize what I’ve done. I haven’t broken the news to her yet,” Ciptak said.

“As of right now, I’m just trying to get up enough nerve to tell her what I’ve done and hope for the best. I hope I’m still living to tell the tale tomorrow. She thought it was a done deal with Ava Grace.

“Only some friends and family members who I have called for prayer support know at this point." (Read More)

Yeah, he is going to need prayer support all right.

  1. Oh man. I emailed that to you and then realized you had probably seen it.

So wrong at so many levels... not the least of which is not telling his wife!

  2. If he's lucky, all she'll do is leave him....

If I was his wife (and let's thank the good Lord in heaven that I'm not!), I'd be looking for the nutcracker and a ball peen hammer.

  3. Can I say f*ckwit here? Cause that's what he is. Divorce is to good for him. Doxy's suggestion is right on the mark(if you get my drift)!

  4. I have decided not to make Doxy and Susan S. angry. I promise I won't name their babies.

  5. Sorry, John---there's some history here.

From the time I was a teenager, I had wanted to name any daughter I might have after my grandmother. When I was pregnant with my second child, we didn't know what type of baby we were having, but the name had never been in doubt if it was female.

So....I had just been through 12 hours of labor to give birth to my daughter. As they carted her off to be washed and weighed, my ex decides we need to name her after his mother!

(I should note at this point that my ex-MIL is crazier than a rat in a tin can, and there is no way on God's green earth that I was EVER going to allow that man to name my baby after her...)

So...my reaction might be a bit disproportionate, but it is rooted in my own experience. It took me five more years to leave him, but he still has all his manly bits attached. ;-)

    Cheers,
    Doxy

  6. No apology necessary at all, Doxy. But thank you for that story. I think I can guess why he is X.

  7. Oh, Lord, I didn't realize it was in Elizabethton. My sympathies.

For what it's worth, there's probably also a Tennessean named Bill Goldwater Miller Citpak.

  8. I think this story has made the national news. You know, Elizabethton is a great town. In fact, we have one of the few labyrinths in the state of Tennessee. That story could have made the national news.
